August 18,

My experiences with writing are making my own essay, writing in my own journal, blogging on myspace/facebook, and creating my own poems. Writing has never truly been a favorite but when i write i try to put as much of myself into it. As well as put in as much excitment, laughter, and depression. everytime i get an assignment for writing i would always look back at my past essays to help me get ideas. Such as when i did my science research project i looked back at my elementary projects to see what i could improve and change.

  1. Hi Brittany (the Lyrical :)

Writing may not be a favorite pastime, but it sounds as if you get a lot of practice in it, anyway, through your MySpace/Facebook blogs and your poetry! I thought it was a good idea to keep your past writing and go through it each time you start a new assignment. It helps you to build on skills and understandings that you already have.

Your pre-assessment essay on your graduation from St. Theresa explains your feelings about the year, that day, and your friends. As we go through the 6 trait writing process, you’ll learn how to include specific detail to “show, not tell” about experiences like these, so that they will come alive and be clear to your readers.

I think your idea bank could have used more effort. Each one includes words that describe feelings but there is no real specific detail that would help the idea bank provide you with topics and ideas for future writing.
